A Success at "Art Assembly: Tokyo" International Art Exhibition at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum


Taipei, January 2025 — The 2024 Kyla Artist Prize has officially revealed its winners, creating a global art sensation. This year’s competition not only introduced the Performing Arts category for the first time but also attracted top artists and numerous international art associations from around the world, significantly increasing its international presence and influence.

Visual Arts Winners

In the Visual Arts category, the Gold Medalists are:

  • Hans Müller (Germany): Müller’s work blends modern and traditional elements, delivering an astounding visual impact. His innovative approach has garnered attention in the international art community, bridging cultural gaps with stunning artwork.

  • Huang Kai-Ti (Taiwan): Huang’s 3D animation work 2524 (team members: Zhang Shaoxuan, Xu Tingxuan, Dai Yi'an, Pan Chen Yingxiang, Xu Xin'en) captivated the judges. Huang, known for his past contributions to projects like the Taipei National Palace Museum, Mayday, Lin Shou-min, the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum, and EVA Air, continues to push creative boundaries with his team’s animation, blending self-exploration and technological advancement to reflect on the intersection of human stories and future realities.

  • Huang Shilun (Taiwan): Huang’s work, We Always Gaze at Each Other from the Opposite Side, which won the first prize at the 12th Yushan Art Exhibition in 2011, uses oil paint and gold leaf to create a deeply emotional and nuanced piece that resonates with viewers.

In addition to the major prize winners, Thomas Schulz (Germany), Tang Furong (Taiwan), and Su Jingdun (Taiwan) were awarded Special Prizes for their unique and innovative artworks. Their pieces were celebrated for their outstanding creativity and technical excellence.

The Honorable Mentions went to Tan Xuling (Hong Kong), Chen Depei (Taiwan), Chai Yonghan (Malaysia), Anna Meier (Germany), and Laura Richter (Germany), whose works demonstrated superior technique and originality, adding more international flair to the competition.

Youth Visual Arts Winners

  • Gold Medals:

    • Yang Yuxin (Taiwan): Cat Village and the Mysterious Guest was praised for its delicate detail and emotional depth.

    • Emma Schmidt (Germany): Recognized for her bold perspective and innovative expressions.

  • Silver Medals:

    • Lukas Weber and Leonie Fischer (Germany) for their high-level technical execution and artistic expression.

  • Bronze Medals:

    • Mia Wagner and Max Bauer (Germany), whose creations were full of youthful energy and creativity.

  • Special Awards for Youth Visual Arts:

    • Li Minghao and Wang Xinyi (China International School), whose remarkable talent and creativity demonstrated the potential of future art stars. Their parents mentioned that the recognition from the Kyla Artist Prize helped their children gain an advantage in applying to prestigious art universities in the US and the UK, securing acceptance letters.

Performing Arts Winners

In the Adult Category, the winners included:

  • Lao Zhongming (Macau), a vocalist who performed Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio), who is currently studying at the Zurich University of the Arts (Switzerland).

  • Su Jingdun (Taiwan), a musician from Wind Music Records, whose work Light’s Entrance has become a trend in the therapeutic music scene, especially in helping improve sleep quality through crystal bowl healing music.

  • Zhang Changjie (Taiwan), a clarinetist known for his jazz clarinet performances and cross-genre collaborations in the music world.

In the Youth Category, the winners were:

  • Clara Becker, Karl Schneider, Sophie Zimmermann, and Paul Hoffmann (Germany). Despite some technical challenges, their performances were full of youthful passion and creativity, earning high praise from the judges.
